Leadership
Nanami was founded by Abel Villca. He has significant expertise in machine learning, data science and product development. He has over 15 years of experience implementing sophisticated data analysis algorithms and systems in the biotech and financial industry. He has a strong track record driving complex projects to completion under strict government and industry standards. His education background and professional experience give him the perspective and the tools to advise clients in their key strategic and technical decisions.
Abel received his master in business administration (MBA) degree from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley. He studied computer science and electrical engineering at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL). During this time Abel spent a year at the Computer Science department of Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh and also worked as a visiting researcher at the Media and Information Laboratories of NEC Corporation in Kawasaki, Japan. After his studies, he was employed with F. Hoffmann-La Roche in California and Switzerland acquiring expertise in algorithm development, machine learning and product development. Abel's contribution led to the successful market release of several life-critical systems in the U.S. and the European Union. He then worked for management consulting firm McKinsey & Company where he gained experience in the fields of business strategy, operational excellence and go-to market strategy. More recently, Abel was instrumental in setting up the data science and machine learning teams at Comcast Corporation.
